Transitioning leadership in Orchestra
We are grateful to Bryan Kolk, for his music excellence and teaching at Garfield as he continues his musical journey. His love of music and teaching will have a long-lasting impact to Garfield Orchestra and its’ many student musicians past and present. As the school moves forward hiring for this key position, we are grateful for Mike Sundt, stepping in as interim Orchestra Director. He is a familiar and fantastic teacher for Garfield students as lead of the Jazz 3 ensemble and having led the Washington Middle School Band & Jazz programs. Welcome Mike Sundt!
A new name, a new website
Friends of Garfield Orchestra (FOGO) has officially been renamed Friends of Garfield Music. This name change (actually it’s reverting to our original non-profit incorporation name 30+ years ago!), reflects our cohesion and shared musical journey between string and band ensembles. Friends of Garfield Music extends it’s support to Concert and Symphonic Bands and reflects our commitment to strengthening the instrumental music excellence at Garfield.

Maintaining a communication channel with our families enables Friends of Garfield Music and the Garfield music directors to share important information and volunteer opportunities to support your student’s musical journey!
