Winter Waltz
Once a year, the Garfield Orchestral ensembles and Symphonic Band gather in the Stroum Lobby at Benaroya Hall, usually on a dark and stormy winter night, to share a joyous evening of dancing and music. There’s a dance floor, waltz lessons, and a rotating setlist of waltzes, old and new.
Festivals and Spring Trips
Every year we support all orchestras and bands in our community to experience a music competition. Each ensemble attends a festival in Washington State. A list of upcoming festivals is available here.
Every other year symphonic orchestra and band take an extended weekend trip to a music destination. They experience professional music, collaborate and learn with another youth symphony, and grow as musicians. Local trips to regional festivals or concerts are also a regular occurrence.
